Manager of Financial Reporting

Department: MHG Accounting
Location: Columbia, MD

Master Trades Group, a leading residential services platform specializing in plumbing and HVAC services with operations across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions under various brands, is seeking an experienced Manager of Financial Reporting. In this role, you will play a critical role in overseeing both internal and external financial reporting processes. Reporting directly to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), you’ll be responsible for delivering precise, timely, and insightful financial reports that support executive management, Private Equity (PE) sponsors, and lenders.

The candidate must be located within a commutable distance to Columbia, MD. This is an 80% office-based position with 20% remote work

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Internal and Executive Reporting:

  • Prepare and manage regular internal financial reports, including monthly and quarterly management reports. Ensure reports provide actionable insights and align with business goals and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with various departments to gather necessary data and ensure accurate representation in reports.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level financial reports and presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors. Provide detailed analysis and commentary on financial performance, trends, and key metrics.
  • Support the Director of FP&A in the preparation of Board materials and strategic presentations.

PE and Lender Reporting:

  • Prepare and manage financial reports required by Private Equity sponsors and lenders. Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and timelines stipulated by PE sponsors and lenders.
  • Address any queries from PE sponsors and lenders related to financial performance and reporting.

Reporting Processes and Accuracy:

  • Develop and implement processes to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
  • Ensure all financial reports are accurate, complete, and delivered on time.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of financial data to ensure consistency and reliability in reporting.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with the FP&A team to integrate financial reporting with planning and analysis activities.
  • Partner with the Accounting team to support the month-end close process and related analysis.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of reporting tools and systems, including BI platforms like Power BI.

Ad Hoc Projects:

  • Support special projects related to financial reporting as assigned by the Director of FP&A.
  • Provide insights and analysis for strategic initiatives and business decisions.

Qualifications/Abilities:

  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data. Proficiency in financial reporting tools and software, including Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and BI tools like Power BI. Solid understanding of accounting principles, US GAAP, and financial consolidation processes.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and effectively to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and completeness in financial reporting.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.

Education/Eperience:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or MBA is a plus.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in financial reporting, with a strong background in internal and external reporting. Experience in a private equity or lender reporting environment is highly preferred.
