HVAC Install Manager

HVAC Install Manager – Len the Plumber Heating & Air - Greater Philadelphia Region

These locations are newer branches of LTPH&A's HVAC Division. Our preferred Candidate will be located in this Region, will work out of one of these locations as their home base with regular travel to the other branches listed.

The HVAC Install Manager manages a team of HVAC Install Technicians in performing residential heating, cooling, and ventilation duties while delivering outstanding quality of work, great customer service experience, and expected company productivity and performance results. The Install Manager will coach Install Technicians and drive the team to meet installation quality standards and departmental budgets.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work closely with the HVAC Branch Manager to implement business strategies.
  • Manage department through monitoring costs, overhead, and manpower to maintain desired Gross Profit Margins. Achieve budgeted gross margin goals on all residential HVAC installations.
  • Manage Install Technicians utilizing key metrics to drive the team to achieve company targets.
  • Drive forecasting and actualization of revenue and executed margin against budget/plan.
  • Ensure all Install Technicians are properly trained and prepared. Provide or schedule customized technical training to Install Technicians based on technical training proficiency and needs of each individual Technician on the team.
  • Recruit professional Install Technicians through traditional recruiting, referral, and networking efforts.
  • Communicate with each Install Technician to ensure a clear understanding of their goals and expectations. Hold team accountable for their productivity performance (i.e. KPI’s per install, customer satisfaction, etc.…)
  • Develop effective teams and motivate. Lead productive and high energy Install meetings to cover relevant customer, equipment and training topics and develop Install teams appropriately.
  • Assist salesmen with job walks, and installation related questions.
  • Work closely with install coordinator(s), offering guidance in matching install jobs to the right Install team based on Install Technician proficiencies and key productivity metrics.
  • Manage team schedule to ensure appropriate coverage to meet ongoing sales production and customer demand.
  • Manage Install Technician payroll and payroll approval process.
  • Partner with operations team to ensure proper inventory levels of installation materials and equipment.
  • Prepare for upcoming installations by ordering equipment, metal, materials and crane (if needed). Make sure next day’s jobs are staged and ready for installation the night before.
  • Coordinate with internal resources to ensure appropriate permitting, equipment rental, day labor, insurance inquiries, labor subcontracting, and other day to day operational needs are properly addressed.
  • Monitor performance of Install Technicians daily to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly performance goals.
  • Monitor installation progress and quality to ensure timely completion and customer satisfaction. Perform post install quality assurance.
  • Ensure proper start up and commissioning of all residential equipment.
  • Conduct site visits and one on one time with Install Technicians in the field on a weekly basis for training purposes and to ensure Technician engagement.
  • Manage any customer issues to full and timely resolution. Work with accounting team to address any accounts receivable issues.
  • Partner with operations team to ensure quarterly truck inventories are scheduled and administered while ensuring Install Technicians are proficient in both warehouse and supply house inventory procedures.
  • Manage truck cleanliness and parts inventory on trucks. Submit purchase requests to fulfill inventory needs.
  • Provide digital tablet support and assistance when needed on the Service Titan platform, ensuring proper details are captured for each install completed.
  • Attend Daily & Weekly Meetings to:
  • Determine actions needed to achieve daily/weekly/monthly goal
  • Communicate areas of opportunity or strength to facilitate team and branch growth
  • Report on daily performance of the team on key metrics
  • Present tracking data on field training and key initiatives

Other Job Functions:

  • Maintain compliance with local, state and federal regulations (understand and abide by compliance requirements for operations).
  • Ensure safety best practices are followed in the field. Ensure integrity and ethics excellence are practiced at all times.

Qualifications/Abilities:

  • At least five (5) years of residential HVAC Installation experience, including diagnostic troubleshooting and service repair abilities.
  • Master MD License holder preferred.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, training, and coaching to a team of Installers.
  • Ability to mobilize a team of professional Install Technicians to drive team and branch results.
  • Ability to provide great customer service.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to solve problems and develop appropriate action plan.
  • Ability to manage internal resources effectively and efficiently.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Work is generally performed in an office environment.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to travel to other locations, to training sessions and/or meetings, car or air travel.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

Minimum of 3 years of proven management experience in the service industry. Proven record in Team Development; Operations; Customer Service; Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications required.
